Algona Volunteer Disaster Response Team
· There are a great number of people who, when in an emergency/disaster situation, try to stop and help others in need. What we propose is to have an organized group of citizen volunteers to assist our local police if such a disaster occurs.
· If the group is organized and trained appropriately this would be a
great asset to the community as well as save valuable time. With many emergency
disasters, minutes can literally mean the difference between life and death.
· Our community has a large population of elderly citizens that would
feel stranded in an emergency. We can help change that!
· Our group has a goal of having 90% of our citizens trained in CPR!
· Our goal is to divide the city into four sections. Each section would
have a “Team Leader” and a goal of 3-5 (or more) people working
under each leader. If a disaster struck, the team would report to the leader,
the leader would direct them where they are needed. The leaders would take direction
from the Algona Police Department.
· This group of volunteers care about our community and the need to help
each other in an emergency.
